Robert J. Keefe was born and raised in East St. Louis, Illinois. He received his bachelor's degree in philosophy and English cum laude from Boston College in 1975. He earned his law degree from St. Louis University Law School cum laude in 1979. He is licensed to practice law in Missouri and Illinois.
During law school, Mr. Keefe worked for the Missouri Court of Appeals in St. Louis assisting appellate court judges write legal opinions.
Following law school, he worked as a law clerk for Judge Andrew Jackson Higgins of the Missouri Supreme Court. From the Supreme Court, he took a job with the law firm of then Missouri Lieutenant Governor, Kenneth Rothman. There he worked in the general practice of law for two years handling divorce, adoption, criminal defense, traffic, wills, name changes, general civil litigation, election law, and a host of other types of legal problems.
In 1982, he joined "Jack Randall Inc." (the predecessor firm to Keefe & Griffiths, P.C.) and has since that time limited his practice to representing injured workers in Illinois and Missouri in workers' compensation cases.
He has been a member of The American Bar Association, The Missouri Bar Association and its workers' compensation section, The Illinois State Bar Association, The Bar Association of Metropolitan of St. Louis, The Lawyers Association of St. Louis, and the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys.
He has written and given continuing legal education presentations to attorneys and judges on various workers' compensation topics. He is a former president of Kids' Chance of Missouri, a not-for-profit organization that raises and distributes scholarship money for children of seriously injured workers and serves on the board of Boys and Girls Town of Missouri.
Robert J. Keefe has been the President and Managing Partner of Keefe & Griffiths, P.C. since 1988.
Mr. Keefe lives in Webster Groves, Missouri, with his wife, also an attorney, and their three children.
